James Robinson is a Lay Clerk at Westminster Cathedral and a former member of Ars Nova Copenhagen. As a soloist, his recent engagements include Bach’s St John Passion and St Matthew Passion, Rachmaninoff’s Vespers, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde and Huang Ruo’s Book of Mountains and Seas.
He performs regularly with ensembles including Tenebrae, BBC Singers, Ex Cathedra, Solomon’s Knot, Exaudi and the Monteverdi Choir, and has recorded Michael Haydn’s Requiem with the Academy of Ancient Music and David Matthews’ String Quartet No. 13 with the Kreutzer Quartet.
He is a graduate of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
